JOINERS is building a citywide Club Directory and hosting a joyful Activity Fair to help Oaklanders find their people, show off their passions, and reconnect the civic fabric of The Town. Whether you host a dance crew, mutual aid pod, chess circle, garden club, or afterschool group—this is for you.
Why a Club Directory?
In the past, every city had one. We think it’s time to bring it back.
Cities used to publish club directories—beautifully simple guides listing every lodge, softball team, civic league, and book club. These weren’t just listings—they were invitations. They helped neighbors connect across generations, grow civic pride, and discover the joy of joining.
Today, we’re reviving that tradition with a modern twist:
A print + digital directory of Oakland clubs
Stories from real club leaders
Photos, contact info, and meeting times
A giant Activity Fair to meet in person and sign up
What’s the Activity Fair?
A one-day, event where dozens of clubs and community groups will table, host mini demos, and recruit new members. Think community potluck meets science fair meets zine fest—for every kind of club.

How Can I List My Club?
If you run a club, crew, or community group in Oakland—we want to include you.

JOINERS is a civic organization based in Oakland, working to reduce loneliness and cultivate civic purpose with joy. We design pop-ups, clubhouses, and creative public events that help people build social capital and feel part of something.
